Abstract:

In this research, zeolite A was synthesized from waste porcelain and CdS nano-particles were doped in zeolite framework by a precipitation after an ion exchanging process. All raw and modified samples were characterized by FT-IR, XRD and SEM methods. Primary experiments showed that the good efficiency of loaded nano CdS onto the zeolite A for photodecomposition of dimethyldisulfide (DMDS) under UV irradiation. Hence the effect of some experimental parameters on the kinetics of the photodegradation experiments was studied and the optimal conditions were found as: pH 3, 3 g L–1 of the catalyst and 8 ppm of DMDS concentration. UV-Vis spectrophotometric measurements were performed to determine the degradation extent. The degradation process obeyed first-order kinetics.

Photocatalytic Degradation of Dye Pollutant in Synthetic Wastewater by Nano-Fe3O4 Based on Clinoptilolite Zeolite

Background & Aims of the Study: One of the most important environmental pollutants in the alcohol industry is sugar beet molasses. The wastewater of these industries causes the pollution of soil, surface water, and underground water. Iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles have attracted much consideration due to their unique properties, such as superparamagnetism, surface-to-volume ratio, greater su...

Investigation of Photocatalytic Degradation of Methyl Orange by Using Nano-Sized ZnO Catalysts

Nano-sized ZnO catalysts were prepared by a direct precipitation method under the optimal conditions (calcination of precursors at 550 ̊C for 120 min). The as-synthesized ZnO catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The photocatalytic properties of ZnO nanoparticles were investigated via methyl orange (MO) as a model org...

Photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine B by nano bismuth oxide: Process modeling by response surface methodology (RSM)

The photocatalytic activity of nano-Bi2O3 was evaluated in degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) as a model of dye pollutant from waste waters. Nano sized Bi2O3 was synthesized using the chemical precipitation method. The as-prepared sample was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spect...
